Locksmith in Burlington Beach, OntarioSmart locks, fitted to a sound door
A keypad or phone-controlled lock is only as good as the door it sits on. Before anything is mounted on a home in Burlington Beach we check the alignment, the strike and the bore, then set up codes, a mechanical backup and a walkthrough so the household can actually use what was installed.

Lockout Services
Doors that have been kicked, pried or drilled rarely lock cleanly afterwards. The repair pages explain how we straighten or replace the strike, rebuild the frame edge, swap the damaged cylinder and, when the door itself is beyond saving, secure the opening until a replacement arrives.

2021 census · what it means at the door
47%Homes of every age
About 47% of homes in Burlington were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.
In areas with homes from many decades, a locksmith gets to match the solution to the house rather than apply one answer everywhere. Period hardware stays on the houses that suit it; modern security goes where the door and the household want it.
50%
Single-detached houses make up about 50% of homes in Burlington (2021 Census).
Mixed housing brings mixed hardware ages as well as types. A locksmith may rebuild a mortise lock on a semi-detached house and then set up a keypad on a townhouse door across the road, and treats each with the care its owner expects.
Which fix fits?
The brass knob on the front door of your century home turns, but nothing happens on the other side. The usual fix
UsuallyVintage Mortise Lock Service
WhyOccasionally a case really is finished, with a cracked body, a bolt worn to a sliver or a hub broken in two, and the answer is a replacement that respects the door.
A software update reset the clinic's small safe overnight, and the receptionist's usual code now does nothing on a keypad that lights up but goes no further. The usual fix
UsuallySafe Opening & Combination Change
WhyTwo different problems can look identical from outside a locked safe: a combination that genuinely no longer opens it, and a mechanism that is jammed, corroded or blocked while the correct numbers still work perfectly.

UsuallySafe Installation & Servicing
WhyPlenty of visits under this service involve a safe that has been sitting in a back office for years rather than a new one arriving in a box.

UsuallyHigh Security Locks
WhyA high security cylinder is rated by independent laboratory testing that times how long it holds out against picking, impressioning, drilling, prying and wrenching.
Locksmith FAQ
Can the work be done with the lock left in the door?
Rarely, and it is not the better route. Almost everything that fails is inside the case, and the case only opens once it is out of the pocket, which takes a few minutes and leaves no mark. Working through the keyhole with an unapproved or over-applied spray tends to wash out what little lubricant should stay and gums the levers later. Removing the case, cleaning it properly and refitting it is the repair that lasts.
How should I keep a written record of my new combination?
Somewhere away from the safe itself: a sealed note held by a manager, a separate secure file, or a password manager already used for other business records all work better than a note taped to or near the safe, which is one of the first places anyone would check. Deciding who updates that record when staff change is worth agreeing on before this visit ends.
How much weight does a filled safe put on the floor?
It depends entirely on the unit's size and construction, since the steel body itself usually weighs far more than whatever ends up inside it. A small document safe and a large commercial unit sit at very different points on that scale. Confirming the safe's own weight before delivery, and checking it against the floor it will sit on, is part of the assessment rather than something guessed at on arrival.
What is the difference between restricted and patented keys?
A restricted keyway is one the manufacturer supplies to a limited set of dealers, so blanks are harder to obtain but not legally protected. A patented key design is protected by a patent for a fixed term, and making or selling the blank without permission is unlawful during that time. Patented systems give the firmer control; restricted ones give a useful step up. The locksmith explains which your chosen line uses and when any patent expires.
Will every old key stop working once you are done?
Every old key that operated a cylinder included in the plan will stop working, and the locksmith proves it by trying old keys at each door before leaving. Old keys keep working only at openings you chose to leave alone, which are written on the chart so there is no confusion. If a master key existed, it is tested too, since a forgotten master is the most common way an old key stays alive.
